Hi, my name is monica reents.
I am a contemporary abstract artist from Kansas living with multiple chronic illnesses. I have been married for 11 years, we have four (mostly) grown children and a dog (Bentley).
I was diagnosed with my primary disease, syringomyelia, in 2011, three weeks after marrying my husband. Since then, I have had 10 surgeries, and have been found to have 11 additional diseases. It has made life challenging, and I’ve had to fight for everything. Including my life. But I see it this way, I am here to share my story and that means I’m winning!
I started Monica Reents Artistry in 2020. I have loved art my entire life and had often dreamt of becoming an artist, to be honest, I never really thought I had the skills. So, I worked in healthcare for 15 years and let doodling on scrap pieces of paper and appreciating art be enough. Now, I am proud to say that I have shipped my artwork all over the United States and even Canada and have taken on countless commissions.
I enjoy being creative and expressing myself through art.
Inspiration is all around me; nature is my strongest inspiration. I see ideas for art in colors, shapes, landscapes, water, and architecture. I use various mediums and allow myself to paint intuitively.
I seek balance and cohesiveness at the completion of a painting. I want viewers to feel something, whether it be from color, shape, design, or possibly a story they read in the art.
